Sad Teenage Girl Feeling Left Out By Friends
Dear Carol,
I think my friends are all hiding something from me. I keep asking them to tell me, but they just say it’s no big deal. What should I do?
– Are My Friends Hiding Things?
Dear Are My Friends Hiding Things?,
Wouldn’t it be nice if they were hiding something fun, like plans for a surprise party for your birthday? But OK, let’s say that they’re hiding the fact that they got invited to a sleepover you didn’t get invited to. Maybe they don’t want to rub it in or make you feel bad that you weren’t invited. If, however, you think your friends are more thoughtless than thoughtful, then keep reaching out to other girls. When you do something and it doesn’t make you feel better, don’t continue doing it. Don’t ask them to be better friends. Instead, find your best self and get involved with new friends so you don’t feel left out of a group you may be smart to leave behind.
